The Epic Chronicle of Beggar Cats

Tempered by the harsh rain and trash cans of the lower city, these scrappy strays know that real chess is won through raw grit, relentless tenacity, and miraculous endgame swindles.

They have no velvet cushions, no golden chalices, and no pedigreed lineage. The Whisker Alley Vagrants are the feral survivors of the cobblestone back-alleys: stray calicos, scarred tomcats, and alley brawlers who learned chess by salvaging discarded wooden pawns from restaurant dumpsters.

Led by Old Scar-Ear, this clan has survived winter frosts, animal control nets, and rival alley prowlers. They never, ever resign. Even when down a rook and two pawns, they set filthy tactical traps, search for stalemate trickery, and fight to the very last claw.

To play against the Vagrants is to enter a bare-knuckle brawl. They specialize in messy, asymmetric positions where book theory is useless and only raw street smarts can save your king.
